Our 2021 ‘Star Lane Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced exclusively from Star Lane Vineyard on the far eastern edge of Santa Barbara County, where steep, rocky hillsides in the Happy Canyon AVA produce fruit of exceptional concentration and structure. Grown between 750 and 1,550 feet in elevation, this site is increasingly recognized as one of California’s top sources for Bordeaux varieties. The wine was hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and fermented in small open-top vessels, then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% neutral) to build depth and polish while preserving the character of the vineyard.
Deep, inky garnet-ruby in color, the wine opens with layered aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, cassis, dried sage, bay leaf, cedar, and cocoa powder, with hints of graphite and pencil shavings. The palate is dense and richly textured, showing dark fruit, espresso, and baking spice framed by firm, structured tannins.
