Tower 15, 2020 Red Wine Blend 'G.C.M.'

About The Wine

Our Tower 15, 2020 Red Wine Blend 'G.C.M.' is an opportunistic composite of three different red wine grapes commonly blended together in the Rhone Valley in France. This blend would normally be called 'Jetty', but without the inclusion of Syrah, the profile is different and we wanted to try something new. All grapes were hand sorted and destemmed before they were cold soaked for five days with intermittent punchdowns and pumpovers. During fermentation this wine was punched down up to three times each day until complete. The wine was drained and pressed into a combination of 20% new French oak barrels and 80% neutral French oak barrels. The different varieties were ultimately blended together before bottling.

The AVA

The unique, transverse nature of the valleys of Santa Barbara Wine Country provides a patchwork quilt of micro-climates and terrains, resulting in one of the most diverse grape growing regions in the world. The valleys run an unusual east-west rather than north-south, and both the coastal Santa Ynez Mountain range and the interior San Rafael range are transverse as well.

Winemaker Notes

Light bodied red blend. Earthy and savory aromas of fresh tilled soil and mushrooms combine with soft red fruits and dried herbs. Light tannins on the palate mingle with the savory/umami flavors, raspberries, and spice.
