This is the first vintage from our one-acre planting of Dornfelder at Pali Vineyard—an homage to our former neighbors, Norm and Traudl Huber, who introduced us to the variety. Grown in the cool, sandy soils of Gypsy Canyon, the fruit ripened with intensity and freshness.
Fermented with native yeast and aged 10 months in mostly neutral oak, this wine is nearly opaque garnet with violet edges. It offers aromas of black cherry, cocoa, and violets, with a palate full of juicy dark berries, tart blueberry, pepper, and mineral tension. Bright acidity and firm tannins carry it through a clean, focused finish.
