While Bien Nacido Vineyard is the most recent addition to our Single Vineyard Series, it’s been on our radar since Pali’s beginning. The vineyard is commonly touted as the single most important vineyard on the Central Coast due to its storied history and long list of notable winery collaborators. In fact, Bien Nacido Vineyard has been the source for more than 15,000 individual vineyard designated wines since its start in the 1970s. In other words, more wineries want to put Bien Nacido on their wine labels than any other vineyard in the world! So, it’s no surprise it took so long to make our ‘Bien Nacido Vineyard’ Pinot Noir after years on a waitlist and vetting to ensure our standards of quality were in alignment. And, they are! Our Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir happens to be our most elegant and traditionally Burgundian wine defined by its maritime quality, bright red fruit, and rose petal aroma. The grapes on Bien Nacido Vineyard are farmed using a biodynamic farming practice, alongside many companion crops, orchards, and various farm animals. All grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted before fermented in small lots and barre-aged in 50% new French oak barrels and 50% neutral French oak barrels before bottled. All of our vineyard designated wines express the nuanced characteristics discovered on remarkably unique and excellent vineyards.
