Tower 15, 2018 Syrah

About The Wine

Our Tower 15, 2018 Syrah carries the traditional profile–a rich, powerful, and sometimes meaty red wine that originated in the Rhône Valley of France. Our vineyard-designate Syrahs have characteristics of fleshy, ripe fruits bound by a defined tannin structure. This particular vintage contains grapes sourced from Jorian Hill Vineyard, located in the Ballard Canyon AVA in the Santa Ynez Valley region. Our Syrah is fermented in small lots, punched-down by hand up to three times each day, and aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, using 35% new French and American oak. The majority of our Grenache was added to our 'Jetty' blend, leaving only a limited amount for this single varietal bottling.

The AVA

The Santa Ynez Valley is a long, east-west corridor, with very cool temperatures on the coast that become progressively warmer inland. Consequently, several varietals do well, from Pinot Noir in the west to Cabernet, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc in the east. Rhone varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Roussanne, and Viognier also thrive in the Santa Ynez.

Winemaker Notes

Dense and earthy aromas of roasted blackberry, plum and blueberry. Regal tannin introduces charred meat, dark fruit puree and earthy herbs.
