Neighborhood, 2021 Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir 'Pet Moon Pink'

About The Wine

Pét-nat is an abbreviation for “pétillant naturel”—a French term that roughly translates to “naturally sparkling.” Our 'Pét Moon Pink’ is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on Pali Vineyard, immediately pressed into a stainless steel tank. The grapes were barreled down into 100% neutral oak before going through a native fermentation with no additives in the winemaking process. The critical point for this wine occurs near the end of its ferment. Just before dryness when only a small amount of sugar remains, we bottled the fermenting juice and close the wine in crown caps. The fermentation finishes in bottle, giving this wine the bubbles we love! The juice is fermented using only native, natural yeast alive in the air and on the grapes. Nothing is added throughout the wine's elevage, resulting in a wine that is rich and complex with strong primary fruit flavors and acid, and remains unfined and unfiltered.

The AVA

With a total area of 30,720 acres, the Sta. Rita Hills AVA is home to over 59 vineyards, totaling 2,700 hundred acres planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and 18 other cool climate wine grape varieties. The combination of a purely East/West maritime throat, poor marine-based soils, elevated calcium in the soil and the Pacific’s cooling influence through fog, wind and moderating summer heat combine to form one of the world’s best cool-climate viticulture areas for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Winemaker Notes

Pastel pink in color with thick grapefruit colored haziness in the bottle. This juicy wine is buzzing with tropical guava and papaya flavors, fuji apple, blood orange, and a hint of lemon zest alongside fresh acidity and wet stone minerality
