Enz Vineyard, the historic vineyard where this Mourvedre was grown, was planted more than one hundred years ago, and the vines look like it. They are thick like old trees and gnarled with head-trained crowns pointed to the sky. Enz Vineyard also has the distinction of being the only vineyard in ‘Lime Kiln Valley’, a far-out, off-the-beaten-path AVA on the San Andreas fault. This wine has developed and savory flavors of crushed rose, dried earth, incense and light red fruit, which are only possible because of the low yielding nature of these ancient vines that have been here longer than all of us!
