About The Wine
This single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon features a highly selective and worthy collection of vineyard-designated wines, bottled individually to show-case the nuanced characteristics of the traditional grape. The grapes for this limited-quantity 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon are exclusively grown on Star Lane Vineyard in Happy Canyon of the Santa Ynez Valley. The old-vines on our block are grown on a steep hillside which restricts yield and intensifies the quality of the grapes. Star Lane’s elevations range, 750 to 1550 ft., so microclimates support diverse growth. All grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted before fermented in small lots and aged in 50% new French oak barrels and 50% neutral French oak barrels before bottled.
The AVA
Happy Canyon is one of the youngest American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) in Santa Barbara County, situated in the eastern most part of the Santa Ynez Valley. The soils are rocky mixtures of sand, gravel, and clay that are rich with minerals and tend to yield concentrated wines.
