Pali, 2019 Pinot Noir 'Huntington'

About The Wine

After gaining notoriety for our rare and collectible vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs, we embarked on a new challenge to reach a wider audience of wine drinkers. In 2008, we introduced ‘Huntington’ as an entry-level Pinot Noir priced accordingly, and made with the same standards of excellence and expertise as our more expensive and esoteric vineyard-designated wines. Our ‘Huntington’ is crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown on Pali Vineyard and other premium vineyards in Santa Barbara County. This wine is expertly blended to capture the spirit of the region and express the unique flavors associated with Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. The grapes from this remarkable region are dark fruited and highly concentrated, producing wines with a powerful structure. The grapes are fermented in small lots and then aged in 80% neutral French oak barrels and 20% new French oak barrels for 450 days.

The AVA

The unique, transverse nature of the valleys of Santa Barbara Wine Country provides a patchwork quilt of micro-climates and terrains, resulting in one of the most diverse grape growing regions in the world. The valleys run an unusual east-west rather than north-south, and both the coastal Santa Ynez Mountain range and the interior San Rafael range are transverse as well.

Winemaker Notes

Rustic cherry meets wild thyme and pine along with raspberry, pomegranate and sage to form a fruit forward yet earthy palate supported by a pleasant backbone of bright acidity.
