About The Wine
In 2007, we set out to create our own stylistically crisp and fresh Chardonnay, deeply inspired by the lean white wines grown in Chablis, France. Our ‘Charm Acres’ is crafted from Chardonnay grapes grown on premium vineyards on the Sonoma Coast in Sonoma County. This wine is expertly blend-ed to capture the spirit of the region and express the unique flavors associated with Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, showcasing an elegant balance of richness. The Sonoma Coast apellation, known for its cool climate along the Pacific Ocean, produces Chardonnays with a rich, supple mouthfeel. Following harvest, the grapes were whole-cluster direct-pressed prior to a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel. The grapes are fermented in small lots and then aged in 15% new French oak and 85% neutral French oak barrels for 240 days. Partial Malo-Lactic fermentation was inhibited, resulting in a crisp style of Chardonnay.
The AVA
The Sonoma Coast AVA extends from San Pablo Bay to the border with Mendocino County. The appellation is known for its cool climate and high rainfall relative to other parts of Sonoma County. Close to the Pacific, with more than twice the annual rainfall of its inland neighbors, it's warm enough to ripen wine grapes because most vineyards are above the fog line.
Winemaker Notes
Aromatically floral and inviting, this is a thick, fleshy, and rounded white wine with minimal oak influence that offers balanced tropical flavor and baking spice.
